Project overview

Location Picton – Dublin Street

Project Stage Service Relocations

Date of completion 29th September – 22nd December 2022 Anticipated

Project Overview

On 29th of September, works start on Dublin Street between the intersections of Devon, Market and Auckland Streets. We are relocating underground services so that early next year we can start constructing the Dublin Street Overbridge that will go over the level crossing.

Parts of Dublin St will need to be closed between the 3rd of October and 23rd of December, however we will open up sections whenever possible to help with access.

We are mindful of busy times, in particular when cruise ships are in town, and will do what we can to work around these. When we can we will maintain access for pedestrians and cyclists where risks to public health and safety can be controlled appropriately. This is dependent on the position of the existing underground services and scope of works.

Important notes for businesses and residents

  • Hours of work for the duration of this project generally will be from 7am – 6pm Monday through to Saturday. There will be some night works required for the sewer connection cut overs and at the intersections to avoid major disturbances during the day.
  • Access to businesses will remain in place, should our work temporarily impact an entrance way, an alternative passage will be created and clearly marked for vehicles and pedestrians
  • Access to residents’ driveways will be maintained where practical, any work planned across a resident’s driveway will be brief and at an agreed time
  • Roadside parking will be impacted by our work for each active work site. We aim to keep work sites small and compact where possible, however if you have specific access requirements that we need to consider (e.g. nurse/doctor visits, Meals on Wheels, planned property works etc.), please advise our communications manager and we will do our best to accommodate these needs
  • There will be increased noise, dust, and vibration levels as a result of our work
  • Work will have no impact on current power, telecommunications, water and sewerage services; however, the network may be fragile so please be prepared in case there is an unexpected service cut off
  • All site works are subject to favourable weather and on-site construction conditions
  • Rubbish and recycling will not change, please put bins out in the usual spots by 5:00pm the night before collection, our crews will move and return them if need be
  • Safety is our number one priority. Safety is also your responsibility too. Stay clear and stay alert, please keep children and pets a safe distance from any work site

Updates:

Power works and underground of the network is fully complete. All overhead lines and poles along the alignment have been decommissioned and removed including across the rail alignment.

Chorus and Fibre works are almost complete and being cut over next week.

Watermain works have all been procured and will be being completed during night works in November.

Sewer design and timing is being worked through collaboratively with designers and council. Further update on timing and updated anticipated dates to be updated.

We will continue to accomodate the cruise ships into the Picton area and 2 way traffic over weekends and extended periods for the local Picton Community and visitors when it is safe to do so.
